SummerAbsChallenge: Let the fitness begin!

Hey, everyone! I’m wasting zero time after finals and getting right back into the swing of things — both with the blog, and exercise. So, that’s why I’m kicking off my first ever #SummerAbsChallenge!

What’s the #SummerAbsChallenge?

It’s a month-long challenge made to help you gain some core strength. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate core workouts. But part of the reason I dislike them is because I suck at them. No better reason to start improving in that area, right? Gotta work on your weaknesses.

Each day from May 15 to June 15, you’ll participate by completing a 5-MINUTE TABATA. Yup, just five minutes and you can get on with the rest of your day (or workout). Don’t know what a Tabata is? It’s a form of interval training where you do 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest. You can download a Tabata timer for your phone to make this easier on yourself.

Didn’t get on the bandwagon on May 15? That’s cool. Just pick up with us whenever you’re ready.

How will I know what exercises to do?

Simple. Download the #SummerAbsChallenge Exercises list or watch the Facebook page. Every other day, we’ll have a different workout (so that means you won’t get bored!).

Why do I want to do this challenge?

Core strength is so important to your overall agility and fitness, so it’s a perfect area to spend some time focusing on. And with summer right around the corner, I know I would like a little extra tightness in my mid-section!

The idea here is that there will be other people suffering (er, getting fit) right along with you, and hopefully they’ll post about their experience, too, using the hashtag #SummerAbsChallenge. You’ll also get to read about different core strength topics on this blog throughout the month-long challenge. Oh, and did I mention there will be a prize?

Each day, you’ll have the chance to post about the #SummerAbsChallenge through Rafflecopter (either by the app below or on the social media page). For each submission you make, you get one entry into the contest. The winner will receive an ab mat, which is perfect for continuing your core-focused fitness long after this challenge is over!
